Book review #2- A Time for Dancing

I would say that typically the books we have to read for school are not to my taste. However, this choice proves otherwise. From a list, we had to choose a book to read and then discuss in class. Obviously, I chose A Time for Dancing by Davida Wills Hurwin. I can honestly say that this is one of the saddest books I have ever read. I was crying so hard by the end of it! 

This book has alternating chapters between two soulmate best friends, Sam and Julie. They are both ballet dancers, and regular teenage girls. This is until Julie becomes diagnosed with a form of Stage 4 cancer. The book follows Julie's awfully long and hard journey with her battle. Sam is also having a hard time at home, so both of their lives are basically falling apart. Nonetheless, this book is an amazing portrayal of love between friends and family, and how to deal when someone you love is slipping away.

This wasn't my favorite book in the world, I do love depressing stories, but perhaps not so sad! It was still a great read, pretty short! It really touched me. I would recommend this book to anyone who is going through a hard time and wants to stop feeling sorry for themselves, seriously. It makes you thankful for what you have!

Perfect- Pretty Little Liars

Welcome to my first book review! Today I bring you Perfect by Sara Shepard. This is the 3rd book in the Pretty Little Liars series. I know what you're thinking- I am just a teenage girl who loves twilight, the clique, and petty series like that. I bet you are hating my blog right now, thinking that I have no real knowledge about anything and I am just a stupid teenage girl. THAT IS NOT THE CASE! I had never watched the show, I still haven't, and a friend persuaded me to try out the series. I was very apprehensive, I thought it would be a stupid series, but I was wrong. 

The Pretty Little Liars series follows 4 girls- Aria (the artsy one), Hanna (the popular and self-conscious one), Emily (the insecure swimmer), and Spencer (the overachiever). These girls are all very rich, and lead very privileged lives (which does bug me!). However, this twist on a realistic fiction book is very different from the petty rich girl story. Aria, Hanna, Emily, and Spencer used to be friends, all with the uber-popular girl Ali. Until one day, when Ali disappeared. All of the girls kept many secrets, and now a stalker named "A" is threatening to tell all. The scary part is, A is someone close to the girls. The big mystery in this series is finding out who A is, and finding out who killed Ali. 

The third book in the series has the lives of the girls falling apart. Hanna goes from being at the top of the popularity chain to being dumped by her best friend. Emily's secret is revealed by A, making her parents furious with her. Spencer is nominated for a writing award- with the essay that her sister wrote. As usual, the book ends with a party where secrets about Ali's life are uncovered, and people are hurt. It just makes me want to get the next book in the series right away! The main plot change in this book verses the others is that A starts to actually become involved, and take action to start spreading the girls' secrets.

So I really think you should give this series a chance-it may surprise you!

Hey Nonexistant followers! What's up? Since my daily blogging plans never work how I want them to, I decided to make a book review blog instead! My name is Maddie, I'm 15 years old (as of the 3rd, happy birthday to me). I am a total bookworm, if you couldn't tell already. I enjoy most kinds of books, although the majority of reviews here will probably be on quick teenage reads. Unfortunately, I have not had as much book (pleasure) reading time due to the fact that I started high school, and my school is one of the most academically challenging in the USA. Look it up, I don't care! So, I hope you enjoy my reviews, I have a feeling this will be a fun project for all of us. :)
